Bio

My “why” for choosing a career in counseling is the opportunity to help people better understand themselves and provide them with the proper tools to help them be successful in life. My empathy and compassion provide additional support to help people through difficult times. I feel my years in education will aid in helping children, while also helping educators understand the mental health side of their students. I believe in taking a client-centered and a strengths-based approach with my clients, allowing them to affect change in themselves by utilizing tools they already possess. Allowing my clients to have ownership in their treatment is crucial for their success. I utilize play therapy techniques in my sessions to build rapport and help children find ways to explain their emotions and reasons for feeling them. I work with other community support services to address mental and behavioral health challenges. I pride myself inkeeping up to date on effective and research-based interventions with those I work with. My client base includes children ages 3-21. I truly enjoy working with children and love watching them grow and evolve.
